Blendover is your TrendOver!
While the mainstream media overflows your television with ‘trending topics’, Blendover becomes the “Trend Over" this week as we take a look at some of the news stories flying a little under the radar. As US media played up odd news coverage this week, it distracted from a damning report released from Norway highlighting how the use of Depleted Uranium Weapons in Iraq has resulted in an alarming high-rate of birth defects.
Also on radioactivity, we turn to some recent developments in the Fukushima plant, damaged from the Japanese Tsunami a few years ago - with the revelations that it is leaking contaminated water into the ocean.
But it’s not all nuclear news - for the metalheads out there we turn to big news in the world of Death Metal and Black Metal. First, we hail the return of the almighty Carcass, a band that was pivotal in the development of Melodic Death Metal, who are releasing their new album in almost two decades. Second, we turn to France, where Norwegian Black Metal pioneer Varg Virkenes of Burzum is arrested and accused on a “terrorist plot” (WTF).
And we have heaps more on this week too - including a glance at the coverage of San Diego Comic-Con.
